two talking fries

"Out of all those kinds of people // You got a face with a view"

Hi! My name is Elizabeth. Origins of this tumblog lie with Ethan, a boy I was collectively babysitting one night in 2008. While playing patty cake, Ethan took it upon himself to finish the nursery rhyme by shouting, "PUT IT IN THE OVEN WITH TWO TALKING FRIES!" He explained they'd hop up and out of the oven to talk to us. The name stuck.

Year in Review #18 - “Catitude”
There is nothing better than coming home after a long day to this guy…
He loves to eat garbage, he’s broken a glass top table and a full length mirror and one evening this past September I found him shoving pieces of marinated eggplant in between the cushions of my tan suede couch.  He’s a frequent flier, a wanna be Bengal and absolutely loves Andrew Bird. He’s Grif with one F.

And he’s  my nephew. In the most pseudo-lesbian, stereotypical cat lady graduate student way possible. I love him. Happy paws, Grifs. Happy paws the shit out of it.

We saw Tom Waits walking into Starbucks. He put a cigarette out on his shoe.

I blogged this on Mal’s tumblr. I thought it was necessary to get it out to the public immediately.

Should I take it as a compliment if one of my students wrote me a note at the end of his public speaking final telling me to “stay steezy” ? I think I’m going to.

Joan Baez - “It Ain’t Me Babe”

Two things:

1. I was listening to this song on the walk to  school today. Had on my trench coat and big sunglasses and sneakers (I keep trying to be casual in sneakers. I don’t know if I can pull it off). Anyway, I just kept thinking, I should write an open letter to future lovers: If you break up with me, please play this song to me. It’s heartbreaking, yes, but it’s soooooo goooood.

2. Joan Baez and I have the same birthday. January 9. Fellow Caps, united in our angst for marriage.

I can’t wait to get home if only for the joy of walking Savannah and seeing how EXCITED she gets when she sees me head for the leash and the poop bags. And that doesn’t COST A DIME!

Elizabeth Street

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know I wrote all of the text for my next issue of Elizabeth Street, which will be the “comfort” issue. This means I’ll create the art for it when I get home at the end of this week and into next week!

If you’d like a copy via post, EMAIL me your address at liz(dot)taddonio(at)gmail(dot)com . Even if you’re a follower I haven’t met in person or a friend I haven’t seen in a while, I’d really love to send out more. Independent self-publishers still live! : )
